Are you stuck in London this summer, whilst all of your friends have gone off on fabulous trips abroad? Personally, I like to stick around London over the summer. I think it’s the best time of year to be in the capital, especially this year with the incredible heatwave that keeps on going. But I totally get it, it can be a bit of a stretch to last the whole summer without holiday vibes, so what better way to spend the long warm days in the city than to head to one of the cool pop-ups on offer that will give you that holiday feeling (no FOMO for you!). This is your official staycation guide:

Swap: Partying in Ibiza
For: Neverland London, Fulham Beach Club

Don’t get jel while your friends are living it up at Blue Marlin in Ibiza. Throw on your best beach chic and head to the Fulham Beach Club, Thameside by Wandsworth Bridge for a day of lounging about on your very own daybed with the resident DJ dropping great tunes.

These guys have really upped their game since their debut last year, and now also offer shuffleboard, ping pong, beer pong and croquet. They also offer a weekly programme that includes bottomless brunch, yoga on the beach, cocktail masterclasses, spots and films on the big screen.

As the day goes on the doggies and families depart and the party atmosphere picks up. There is no champagne spraying going on yet (at least when I have been there), just good vibes and good times 🙂

Advanced reservations advisable.

Swap: Cultured pursuits in Japan
For: Kyoto Garden, Holland Park

We are spoilt for choice in London with an abundance of impressive parks and gardens to choose from. Escape to Holland Park’s exotic Kyoto Garden for a tranquil stroll and picnic that will make you feel like you are in Japan.

The Japanese garden is peaceful and the perfect place to relax. Opened in 1991, the gardens were a gift from the city of Kyoto to celebrate the long friendship between Japan and Great Britain.

Swap: The colourful streets of Havana
For: Rotunda’s Rum Garden, Kings Cross

Head on down to Rotunda, where they have transformed their canal side terrace into a tropical rum garden, complete with Caribbean inspired decor and deck chairs. Whilst sipping on delicious Havana Club rum cocktails, you will be transported to the colourful streets of Cuba. Just think of all the money you will be saving on that long-haul flight to Havana!

Swap: Poolside at Bondi Icebergs
For: Poolside at Lido Lates

You don’t need to go all the way to Sydney to take a dip to cool down. You can do it glamorously lounging on a sunbed whilst sipping cocktails and chilling out to poolside beats in… Brockwell! Oh yeah you can 😉

Lido Lates sees the lido transforms for adult only evenings. Go for open-air moonlit swimming by the ambient light that surrounds the 50-metre pool, filled with Instagramable floats, boats and fountains. And for those of you not prepared to brave the refreshing water, you can head to the warmth of the wood-fired aromatherapy sauna, surrounded by custom-made blends of fragrances designed to enhance and stimulate the senses.

Swap: Carnage in Vegas
For: Lost Vegas, Queen of Hoxton

You don’t need to lose yourself in Vegas this summer, you can head to Shoreditch to get Lost Vegas instead. Their quirky reformed take on the City of Sin offers revellers the opportunity to meet Elvis in an overgrown Little Vegas Wedding Chapel and play the slots.

For those of you more adventurous, you can check out their weird and wonderfully stocked Lost Vegas vending machines where you’ll find everything from boozy ice pops and canned cocktails to wedding rings, and divorce certificates!

Veggies, they’ve got you covered too with loaded vegan hot dogs served from an abandoned yellow school bus bar.

Call ahead for opening times, the venue is sometimes closed for private hire.

Swap: The scenic canals of Amsterdam
For: Hot Tug

Fancy yourself a sailor? You are going to love this – Hot Tug brings you floating hot tubs that sail the scenic waterways around Regent’s Canal. Grab a couple of your mates and some beers, and experience Central London in this unique and memorable way. You’ll be toasty all year long in your freshwater hot tub at a balmy 38˚c!

Until next time, safe travels.

I love promoting London. As you say, you often find treasures on your very own doorstep. We’d love to see you on this side of the Pond some time soon 🙂
